I bought 2 of these multiple years apart. The first one years ago it was the first thing I bought from BUDK. The clip was hard to clip around the knife but it did and eventually stretched, The Sheath had good stitching and there was a Marine emblem and USMC Embossed on it. The belt loop only went half way up the blade making it look to small for the knife. The Blade had USMC on one side an "item #, engineering , authorized by, etc." on the other side small print near the handle and the black cap at the top of the handle was loose and the retaining pin fell out. I had an issue trying to get it exchanged at the time and didn't purchase anything from BUDK for a long time until a friend showed me some things he purchased and they all seemed to be good quality. I purchased a number of other knives and they all were of good quality so I purchased the second one of these and The sheath was of better quality. It had "KA-BAR" "the Marine emblem" and "USMC" embossed on the sheath. The embossing was much finer quality, The sheath not only had quality stitching but is also riveted in 8 places and the belt loop goes all the way to the top of the knife. BTW the clasp worked perfectly. The Blade has USMC engraved on one side with KA-BAR OLEAN, NY near the handle on the other side. The knife was a much better quality with nothing loose and it looked and felt like the one I had when I was in Marines. I've been more than happy with this one. I don't know if there are different manufacturers or different knives but make sure you getting the one that has KA-BAR on the knife. Call and ask them if there are different ones if you have too but the last one I got was an excellent knife.

Excellent knife. How could anyone give a bad review. Very good reproduction in every way as a real KA-BAR but not $100. Extremely sharp and great leather stacked handle.. Stainless steel and not carbon but good knife for the money all around. One more thing. Was not expecting, and blown away by the thick heavy leather sheath.

My wife has been interested in this knife for a long time. Little did I know it could be engraved and such, to enhance not only the knife, but to personalize it even more! She loves it. Therefor, it's all worth it! Thank you!

Good size knife with a sharp blade. My only complaint is that you cannot get the sheath's clasped to close. Maybe it's just me being dumb, but it does not want to work.

My original USMC Kabar was stolen from my pickup and this is the closest one I have found to it. The knife and sheath are both excellent. I highly recommend it.

I bought three of these. Gave one to each of my sons. Before being used the pommel fell off my knife. The pin had not gone through the hole in the handle. I used some JB Weld epoxy and fixed that. More serious the steel 420 SS is NOT HARD. A 6" mill file cuts the steel easily. It is easy to sharpen but will hold an edge only a short while. A good value for a kids first knife since it is easy to sharpen and not a reason to worry about damaging a fine knife. I bought a real KA-BAR made in the USA from 1095 carbon steel. It is easy to sharpen but a file won't cut the steel and it will hold an edge. It is also 4-1/2 times more ewxpesive.

Very well made knife. Sharp enough, but could be sharper. Sturdy handle. Stacked leather is so solid it feels like wood. Sheath is premium. Very happy with this purchase.

My late father was in the Marines so I thought it might be a nice gift for his great grandsons. I bought six and had them engraved with each of their names. I also added the eagle. Got them today and I am thrilled as they will be on Christmas. Great quality, fast shipping and a great memento for the boys.

I got this knife because of the price and it turns out to be a pretty good knife. Not as good as the original Ka-Bar knife but does a decent job. Its lighter than a Ka-Bar and just a little longer. I do like the handle which is larger than Ka-Bar's. Has a good feel and grip. It will last a long time and is a good all-around knife. The leather sheath is good quality and very sturdy. Glad I got it!

This is a good LOOKING knife. It looks just like a Ka-Bar. That being said, looks aren't anything. If you want a Ka-Bar, buy a Ka-Bar. I needed this knife as a prop in a play and so it met my needs. I didn't want to use one of my Ka-Bars so I bought this knife. When I compared it to an actual Ka-Bar, here is what I found: 1. The sheath of the Ka-Bar far exceeds the sheath of this knife in quality and build. 2. This knife is much lighter than the Ka-Bar. Why? I couldn't really tell. The blade is a bit thinner, but not by a great deal. I can only assume it is the type of metal used. 3. The buttcap on the handle is not affixed as securely on this knife as it is on the Ka-Bar. 4. The blade is not sharp. I suppose I could cut myself with it, but United Cutlery knives are not known for being razor sharp upon arrival, are not known for being capable of being sharpened to a razor edge or even for edge retention. So, if you want a knife that LOOKS good, (perfect for a prop in a play), this is a good price for a prop. If you want a knife that is Ka-Bar quality, then buy a Ka-Bar. If you can't afford a Ka-Bar, then look at the Case Marine Corp knife. Case, Ka-Bar and Camillus all made knives used by Marines in WW2. Personally, I carry a Gerber LMF (2nd gen), and a Gerber Prodigy as my fixed blade knife. My wife and son carry the Ka-Bars.

I am really impressed with this knife. Out of the box it was amazingly sharp. I have used this knife for all my camping and backpacking trips. It cuts and splits wood with no problem. I haven't even had the need to sharpen it yet. I own two of these now, this one and the 1942. I sent one as a gift to my nephew. I really like this knife and would recommend it to anyone.

People are complaining that this is not as good as a KBAR. Well, it's not. But you have to understand that this is a $13 dollar knife. For $13 dollars this knife is awesome. Go buy a KBAR if you can but if you are looking for a cheap knife that will get the job done, then this is for you. Only problem I had was that a few of the rings on the handle came off because they were not secured properly, but this was easily fixed with a bit of krazy glue. Decently sharp out of the box, but with some TLC you can give it a really nice edge. After adding the krazy glue this knife feels really sturdy. It is full tang so no worries there. Again this is not as good as a KBAR, but for $13 dollars its definetly worth it

The knife is excellent except for the snap on the handle strap. I have arthritis in my hands and it is difficult for me to close. (my problem). The sheath is very good. Many people don't know that the Chinese are masters at sword and knife making, but they have been doing this for ages. For the price you can't find a better deal.

Ordered three of the Officially Licensed U.S.M.C. Fixed Blade Clip Point Knife With Leather Sheath, one for my 2 boys, and of course....one for Dad. My first order with BudK. Was very impressed with the catalog rcvd in the mail, how easy it was to order the knife using the item number in the catalog, how quick the order was processed, how well it was communicated. Also, you can't beat the price of this knife. And if you are wondering when you look at it online...YES....it is SHARP. So many times have ordered a knife through a catalog or online, only to get a dull blade. Not the case here. Order with confidence! Merry Christmas.

I am very pleased with the items I ordered from BUDK. The USMC Combat Fighting Knives are orginal The knives were on back order at the time I ordered, but they arrived in a very timely manner I am very pleased so much so I showed my son-in-law and another friend, ordered a couple for them selves.

This is an"okay"knife. As long as you're paying less than twenty dollars for it,you're getting a good deal. Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, well its not. I own a lot of knives and this one is just okay.

This knife is a great buy at 20 bucks, I'm very impressed. Pommel was a little loose, but was easily fixed. The only thing I didn't like was it was made in china.

My bro got this knife on a BOGO 2 for 1 sale and gave me one... We both immediately super-glued the pommel pin hole to assure the the retaining pin would not come out. No, it's not a KA-BAR but for the price it is a good deal. The blade looks like an original and is sharp, the pommel feels like plastic but is actually some type of cast metal and the sheath looks good but isn't real leather but will suffice.. Over all, the four star rating is because of everything combined but definitely it is worth the money understanding that this is a KA-BAR knock-off and not the real deal. Happy trails...

I bought this Knife and thought it would break the day I bought it, but did! And it comes with the united states marine corp on the leather sheath. But it has some downsides, the end cap will come off, the leather sheath ring is not very durable. but if you want to hang it up on you wall, desk. It will look good and beats the price of the actual one. Good job budk.

I bought two and discovered the pin problem imediately. I Make custom Leather Sheaths for all my BUDK products, so I used my Leather glue and placed a small amount on each layer of the leather handle making sure to place them in the same exact order as the were originally stacked. I then had to press down hard to replace the butt and inserted a drop of epoxy, then the a cut off Nail slightly larger than the pin provided and used a center punch to set the pin. Then another drop of epoxy and let it set overnight. I then dipped the butt only into Plasti-Dip. This fills the pin hole and the square hole on the end of the Butt. I then took it out and from 20 feet threw it an old log of wood "My personal Knife and Axe throwing target" and it held up perfectly. It only took about 30 minutes and made a huge difference. This allows me to keep the cost down for my customers and "My Customers absolutely love it". They can spend the extra bucks on a K-bar, but they don't need to with this quick fix. Good all around Utility Knife with good Balance and Grip for the Money. As for the guy that broke the tip... Any Knife will break (or bend) if not removed carefully.

I bought 2 of these replica knives for $9.99 each. The key word here is "replica". If you want or need such a knife for heavy-duty use, spend the money and buy a real Ka-Bar knife. They are OK for the price I paid. They look nice but don't buy them for anything other than display or light duty use. One of the knives I purchased has a loose guard and the butt cap fell off the other one. I re-attached the butt cap with epoxy glue so that should fix it. Also, don't use the butt cap as a hammer like the original combat knives were used. It definitely will break and fall apart!

Well it is a great knife for only $20. But the blade can easily break, but only if you abuse it. My suggestion to anyone buying this: DO NOT STICK THIS IN A TREE! That's what I did and the tip came right off

This knife is very sharp in performance and looks and the price is great too! BUT you also get what you pay for. The end cap came off and all of the leather rings followed after just 3 days.

I purchased 3 of these blade to put one in each of my GHB's. I really liked them. They are obviously not a Kbar but for an everyday use that you can abuse a little I think these will be great. 2 of the three bladed had the end cap come off before even using them. I still think the knife overall is good but you need to make up for the lack of manufacturing quality by epoxying the end cap and pin in place. For the price and a little effort to fix this issue its a decent blade.

I bought one just to see it and for 12.99 it's a good knife. At first glance it looks like a real marine corp issue knife but the optimum words are looks looks like. It does have a good feel and is well balanced but lacks the weight of the real thing. I'd never try to use the but end as a hammer, that is an area that one look shows it's weakness. The sheath while pretty well made looks cheap on closer inspection, the USMC,EGA logo appears like it's stamped into a cheap plastic veneer not leather, something which doesn't affect the knife just the appearance. It better than I expected for the price and until I decide to go all out and purchase a real Ka bar it's a nice addition to my collection. Would I recommend it to a friend yes, as long as they understand it is what it is and not a real Marine Corps issue fighting knife.

just wanted to give an honest review.first of all i own both the budk china made knife and also the u.s.of a real deal k-bar.The fighter knife pommel fell off in my hand. The true comparison is 420 stainless blade compared to a 1095 high carbon steel in the k-bar.fighter knife nice to look at.nothing like real deal.hoo ra!!
Feb 02, 2015
(2 out of 5)
A lot of knife for the price. Better-looking than the marine issue Ontarios out of the box. That said, it's still a far cry from the quality of the superior Ka-Bar brand knives. Sheath is made of a stiff leather+wood and better than I expected. Handle is oval shaped and much thicker than usual which makes it comfortable in large hands like mine. The blade is made from very rust resistant (but cheap) 420a stainless. Due to their pick of steel, the whole knife is couple oz lighter than the real deal. Fortunately it retains its original balance, i.e. the center of gravity is an inch back from the pommel. Another deviation from the MK2 pattern is that the top wedge is thicker and not sharpenable. This is good if you want to baton with it. That said, I would NOT recommend this knife for such tasks due to its poorly constructed pommel. The pins are loose fitting and will fly out with heavy use. I bought two and had the pommel pop out on both knives on the first day. The flaw can be remedied by sanding the paint from the tang then filling all the crevices in the assembly with a good epoxy like JB Weld... but I wish I didn't have to do this. I suggest doing preventative maintenance on every new knife because it's easy to lose the pin when it flies out. Whack the end a few times with a rubber mallet and the pommel will pop right out. Awesome right? You get what you pay for but some TLC makes this knife a killer value.

bought 3 2 out of 3 fall apart loose, one pinned but head will loosen first time used.Loose head, full tang too shot to be truely pinned.looks good ,but will fall apart in no time.Head and leather looseness will be filled with an epoxy or liquid steel.then throw in tool box in truck for cutting rope, twine, etc.for under 10 bucks I didnt expect much anyway.I take good care of my good knifes Kbar,Bucks,Case etc,and leave these junk knifes for junk tasks.

Bought the knife and around the 10th time taking it out of its sheath (haven't even gotten a chance to use it) the butt of the knife comes off. I was so surprised because it looked to be a decent knife but I guess you get what you pay for. There's only a bit of glue and a pin holding the butt of the knife to its cheap plastic handle. Very disappointed with my purchase but this deal was too good to be true. CHEAPLY MADE JUNK. Almost forgot, the sheath makes it almost impossible to take the blade out smoothly.

If you don't have the cash to buy a real kbar and you just want this knife for looks than get the knife but this knife is not! Licened by the military in anyway. I don't know what kind of steel this is but it sucks! And it came with a bad edge. The only thing that I like is the sheath
