Product Description
The 1942 Combat Sword is inspired by the trusty weapon US armed forces carried during World War II. Paying homage to the original, "US 1942" is delicately etched into its 19 3/4" black-coated AUS-6 stainless steel tanto blade. The historically faithful, 27 1/2" overall design is accented with a matching guard and end cap, and a handsome, easy-grip stacked leather handle. A black nylon sheath with belt loop and shoulder strap is included. A beautifully crafted tribute to those who fought and died in Europe and the Pacific in WWII, the 1942 Combat Sword makes an especially thoughtful, heartfelt gift for soldiers, WWII veterans, sword and knife collectors, history buffs, WWII/military scholars and anyone who appreciates fine engineering and quality craftsmanship. Custom Engraving available for up to 25 characters!

I love it all together, only thing I really have an issue with is that the sword appears to have a slight warp in it.

I haven’t tried to chop wood with it but it feels balanced & solid, great piece for the money

I am very pleased with this replica sword for the price. It's pretty well made, flexible, durable due to the AUS 6 steel and fairly sharp. Feels balanced and good in the hand with the stacked leather handle. The sheath seems to be well made too. Another great deal from BUDK.

Blade is simple and clean. I bought it for a Marine friend. It will be a display piece and for the price looks great.

This product exceeds my expectations, especially for the price! It's a great sword, historically accurate, and is very solid! I was expecting something cheaply made that looks decent but this sword is very good, feels great in my hands. I bought it as a display item and novelty, I doubt it'll perform well to chop down trees (duh). It almost makes me want to go back into battle - almost!

I purchased this sword to hang on a wall for decoration and for that purpose is made very well. It's not meant to cut wood or use as a real weapon, it's too unwieldy. It is a cool sword to display and goes well alongside a Ka-Bar knife.

reading alot of these reviews I can tell that yall ain't the brightest sort. maybe if you stopped using the thing to split logs like an axe it would stop breaking?

Rather ironic that such a nice Marine version of a Kiridashi should exist. I am very pleased with mine. The scabbard, not so much.

Surprising sword here! I bought it just for a display piece in my shop, but I'm impressed with the fine finish and quality appearance. Great price, too! I had it engraved and that came out perfect! Thanks!

This is one of the best swords I've ever seen for under $30. It's razor sharp out of the box. (I just cut myself on the serrated teeth today) It can take more abuse than some other swords I've seen, though I still only recommend it for light brush work and self defense. Only complaint is the length. The picture looks like it's as long as a standard katana, but it's actually a lot shorter than I expected. Still for $30 you can't go wrong.

I really like this and it's definitely wickedly sharp! I just wonder if this was an actual military weapon because when I did a search of USMC weapons I could find no mention of it. Still glad to have it in my collection!

Are you kidding me?! This sword is 30 bucks and awesome. When I got mine my friend liked it so much I gave it to him and ordered myself another one. The metal is super corrosion resistant, though a bit soft. Sharpens easy with an AccuSharp.

I have this sword and LOVE IT - you can not come close to the quality on this sword for the money anywhere! The sheath is not up to par but they have to skimp somewhere to get to these prices. THe sword alone is worth double the selling price. Goes great on the wall with my Ka-Bar collection! Thanks BudK

I bought this sword for my Dad as a Christmas present because he was a Marine. When it came the retention snap was broken out so I called Bud K and they sent me a replacement and a shipping label to send the defective one back? I don't know how well it will hold an edge and it don't matter because I bought this as a collectors item and my Dad will never use it it is a conversation piece. I am very happy with this purchase and with Bud K for the fast way when I called ant told them what was wrong the got me another one right out to me.

I sort of expected this to be like one of those cheap stamped out "ninja swords" but this is a useful tool, capable of filing anti-foliage or anti-personnel roles. My only criticism is that it is difficult to re-sheathe, I believe due to the serrations, which may get get the belt-sander treatment. This is a Wazikashi length straight blade, but if you ever made a full length Katana and matching Tanto, I would buy them all, and have my own Marine-style Daisho! The perfect sword stand would be made from ammo crate wood! This is going to be my "trunk sword". I am a happy panda.

The 1942 Leather Neck Sword is an excellent value. It is exceptional quality. The handle is stacked leather, similiar to the K bar knife that Marines have used for years. I highly recommend this for use and for collecters.

I was so happy when I got the notice this item was back in stock - I've been waiting forever! This is an awesome companion to the WW2 issue Marine Ka-Bar. The leather grip is just like the Ka-Bar (but longer, of course) and I can get two hands on it but guys with big mitts will find it a tad short. The blade is a little short and thin to be a good machete but who cares??? It's COOL!!! The sheath is ChiCom garbage but I'm thinking a matching brown Kydex sheath is the way to go with this baby anyways. :D Or maybe a custom WW2-stlye leather sheath? However you go, this is a great deal and did I mention it's just SUPER COOL?

Nice balance, comfortable weight, nice edge, & U can get a strong two hand grip on the hilt to make this a lethal weapon; well worth the price. The snap on the sheath was difficult to unsnap, but a little oil fixed it, as did oiling the blade made it easier to incase the blade into the sheath...as a compliment to this short sword I'd also purchase The 1942 Combat Fighter...

The sword has a little saw cut that catchs on the sheath. Other than that, Back 40- chop, water bottles-chop. Jim

The blade is sharp but needs work. The balance in a single hand is blade heavy but is fine with 2 hands. Happy with the purchase considering the price. I would easily pay $20 more.if made in USA instead of China.

solid feel, no rattles, out of box edge leaves much to be desired, and as with all stainless, if its not sharp to start with, its hard to put a good edge on it as opposed to carbon steel which is easy.

the concept i love it, i always loved my kabar but it was stolen and there pretty expensive so havent replaced it yet, so i see this an absolutely loved this sword version. My only gripes are theres a big grinding swoop right in the middle of the back bone at the factory so it Does look flawed (but i imagine its not on all of them) and i dont get the feeling its super stout but i could be wrong? The handle is well made and the blade is very sharp it swipes through cardboard boxes easily and clean and wow especially the serrated section thats like beware sharp.....

This was the first sword I have ever gotten and it will always be one of my favorites. The blade did not come as sharp as I would have liked but that's okay because I was able to use my new sharpener I got with it. I know its not full tang but is still very well made and feels sturdy. I plan on joining the army pretty soon and If they will let me I will gladly carry this beautiful weapon with me into combat. Thanks budk I am guaranteed to have business with you in the future.

Great looking sword. Worth the price. Sharp blade. Only complaint is the safety strap broke very easily and the wood maakes your hands smell funny. Overall a great sword

Pretty short sword, quite a bit shorter than what I was hoping for, but that should be attributed to me not knowing how long 19-3/4 inches is. Very hard to chip but the black finish on the very point, but I've been abusing it alot and it has held up well. I only have a few issues. The nylon sheath is falling apart from the serration and the leather strap on the handle has already fallen off. it would be nice if the sheath was at an angle instead of parallel to the leg. If you ignore the sheath or make your own this blade is 5/5, I only bring it down a star because of the sheath.

I love this sword, it has a US 1942 on the blade, KA-BAR looking handle, nice sharp blade. But the two things I don't like about it is I wanted a longer blade and a better sheath like leather or stronger material.

Blade was slightly bent and finish was chipped in a couple places but nothing I wasn't able by to touch up. Very solid piece overall and still quite pleased. I'm building a scabbard for it before displaying with my 1939 stamped Mosin Nagant 91/30 and GI styled 1911.

I got the sword for the same reason most of you will,it looks like the US military sword. But I have to complaints. One so its not as long as I was hoping for, into the swords not made in the United States. But other than that it's a great blade. One that I'm glad I got.

As a retired Army officer, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this wkaizashi length sword was well-made and will provide good utility for the money. I think BudK should also consider asking the manufacturer to bring this sword out in a katana length.

Good value in a short sword. Good materials have provided a sword that handles well and should be enjoyed for a good while. The handle makes the sword for me, as always at SG value for your money.

I bought the 1942 Leather neck sword as it is the mate to the USMC machete Tanto fighting knife that I recently bought and like very much. The blade on my sword was sharp when I got it. I have hand honed swords before and they are lots of work so was relieved this one was sharp. My swords hilt was a bit loose because of a gap on the sides between the hilt and blade. My fix for this problem is JB Weld cement swaged in the crack between the hilt and blade. Once you install that and wait over night there is no more wiggle room and the hilt cannot move anymore. The pommel on mine was tight. It had however some chips in the paint around the rim of the pommel so I did a bit of touch up painting and it looks great! It all turned out very solid and am happy with it especially at the price. It is a good sword for home protection, back packing, any outdoor activity where you feel the need for protection and want an edge that is even longer than it's counter part, the USMC machete Tanto fighting knife. I recommend them both.

I pulled the blade 8 -10 times from the sheath. Last draw cut my hand. Sheath needs a grommet at the cap of the sheath.. blade is obviously sharp. Safety first.. lol

I'm a bit confused by this blade...one side of me loves it, the other side of me thinks it's seriously lacking in heft and slashing ability. The leather wrapped handle is nice and being two handed is a big plus. However, when you wield this, you'll find it's very, very light. That's great from a stabbing point of view, much like a rapier...it's tip is very sharp and it doesn't feel like it'll take much effort to run someone all the way through with it. But, as a machete, as a tool for hacking tree limbs and brush out of your way, I just don't think it has the weight nor the width of blade to do it well, even two handed. Overall, a great stabbing weapon...great handle...but this is not a machete nor should it be used as one.

I tested blade strength against a tree stump using moderate force needed to separate a zombie's arm. blade broke about an inch or so below the crossbar within the handle. Disappointed but not heartbroken would rather find out in testing rather than when I really needed it. Removed the pieces of the grip to get at the tang and saw that it had broken at a weld. Other than the weld, it would have been quite adequate for any appropriate use. I used a metal cutting blade on my table saw to continue the tang a few inches down the blade (lost all the serration in the process),filed and fitted as needed and reassembled the handle. It's about 7 inches shorter now but it passes the 'tree stump' test. The pommel is aluminum so drilling out the steel pin was a bit of a challenge. xFilled in the damage with a metal paste and painted it with black insigne paint. Quite a nice tool now. Overall length is now 21 blade length is 15

I loved the smart military look of this blade but I discovered it is ONLY FOR LOOKS. The tang of the blade is welded at one inch from the hilt and here was almost no penetration of the weld and after a few taps on a log in the fire it just snapped.

Let me start out by saying I LOVE BUDK and I spend alot of money with this company but today is the first time I have ever written a review. This is junk as a working sword. The first time I used it was on a 1 inch sappling and the handle broke in half. It is not full tang and I do believe it was glued on. With that said if you are buying it as a wall hanger then by all means do so because it is well worth hanging on the wall to look at. In closing in my opinion it is a beautiful piece of junk.

I didn't expect much from a 30$ sword, but I was still disappointed. I can deal with a bad edge since I usually sharpen blades myself anyway. What I don't like is when a seeming full length push tang design based off the ever-reliable Ka-Bar design snaps at the handle, and then I take it apart to find out if it's what I've been seeing a lot lately, and it was. The tang only goes a short way into the handle, where there it is then badly welded to a same thickness bar so that it can look like it's true to the Ka-Bar design where the end of the tang is visible from the end. I am fine with the lack of edge, I'm fine with the bad steel if it's 30$, I'm even fine with the blades warping being clearly noticeable. What I don't like is yet another attempt from a blade company to make something look better than it is, while also taking a famous design from one of the dwindling numbers of good knife producers, and mocking it. I've seen multiple other comments on the handle breaking, well this is the reason why. It's a bad, intentional, and deceptive flaw that would probably not be much more expensive if just simply fixed and made one solid piece of steel. It's one more reason that when looking at new blades and other items online, it's always a better idea to take the negative reviews more seriously than the reviews of those that could be more easily fooled.
