Just as excellent as I remember it
Call it nostalgia goggles, but I bought this knife -literally- because it was the same as one I had when I was younger. I've had my fair share of bowie knives, throwing knives, skinnin' knives that I've bought from BudK, and some were ventures that were worth the money and some were faults on the manufacturer's part. But Timber Rattler has -never- disappointed, and it's just the same here.
I bought this to replace a knife that I had a fair many years ago that was stolen, and it's exactly as I recall it. The weight is perfect, the knife was sharp out of the box, the engraving I added this time around was legible and just as I liked, and while the sheath does get some heat and I will admit it has some faults, honestly for the price you're paying you're getting more than what you should. Granted it's advertised as a skinning knife but I'd argue it's more like a smaller bowie knife than anything. You could certainly skin with it, but I suppose it depends on the hand wielding it and what you want to do with it. The first knife I used for whittling, fish gutting, bushcrafting, and if you really practice and don't mind speeding along the wear and tear of your knife you -can- throw it. The perfect little redneck companion for all your hoodlum needs and thrills, from car work to tape cutting and twig-slashing, where there's a will there's a way.
By and large, for a blade under twenty dollars and with a little knife know-how for upkeep and care you can not go wrong with this purchase, and having owned this knife twice as of now, you will get your money's worth for years to come and if you care for it then it will take care of you. Don't discount the power of the affordable timber rattler knife, because as ubiquitous as they are, they certainly should hold a proud place as the everyman's blade-maker.

Great Solid Knife
I love this knife! Mine was respectfully sharp out of the box and feels great in the hands. Beast of a knife that isn't too heavy or overwhelming to carry.
Only con about mine that i received was that the strap that wraps around the base of the knife to secure in place was too tight. I fixed by cutting a small piece of the sheath so the knife will slide further into the sheath.
I Highly recommend you purchase this knife, for $13 you cant go wrong. Budk will get you your order in a timely manner. 5 star knife all the way.

High quality skinner
PROS: full tang, looks very nice especially with the blue pakka. Well balanced. lanyard hole, high quality steel.HANDMADE
CONS: Tiny imperfections around the pakka wood a little sloppy with the glue.the sheath is nice to look at but flimsy and very tight fit to where i think the lock is about to break it has to be stretched over the handle to reach the button to clip.
This is my favorite skinning knife , and my favorite colored pakka wood handle the blue looks very very nice. The blade almost looks elvish like thorins orchrist from hobbit. I love this knife you wont find a skinner this legit for even $70

Excellent Quality Knife!
Just got this knife in the mail today! I got more than my money's worth that's for sure! Beautiful knife all around. Beautiful strong handle and full tang. I bought this to be a all the time carry knife and it is the perfect size for that. The genuine leather sheath is beautiful and excellent quality. My teenage son looked at it and immediately wanted one for himself. I will be getting him one as well. I recommend this knife to everyone. You won't be disappointed.

nice knife
Just got this blade the other day pretty sharp out of the box not enough for my taste but a few strokes with a smooth cut file and good to go. Knife did well skinning the first deer of the year will see how it holds up should be just fine. The sheath needs a strap on top as well as the one on the bottom knife is heavy so it just wants to fall over when it is on your belt. Overall I am happy with this purchase will be buying from BudK again.

Good-looking, usable knife
I've had this knife for quite a while now. The look and feel of it are excellent. It's heavy, solid, and feels good in the hand. I carry it on my left hip whenever I work and it has stood up to plenty of use, even though I don't take great care of it. The sheath looks fine but is flimsy for real, everyday use, so I made my own sheath. I can highly recommend the knife, and the price is unbeatable.

Class Knife
This knife just has the right weight and feel.I have bought about 12 or 15 knives from Bud-K mostly the Timber Rattle Bowie knife's.I am Disabled so I have A lot of time and when I get started I use my drimel tools and sanding disks to get them sharp then Polish them until they look like crome.Once I get the blade sharp it only takes A Steel to get them back sharp. All you are doing is Ploishing the edge back to were it was sharp. As long as it had A good sharp knife that is all it takes. The knife's could due with A Quility Sheath to go with their knifes.Take care. Great value little bowie utility knife
It's a big little bowie with a great design and nice shape. It came sharp out of box and is much better made than other Pakki knives. The pakka wood scales are perfects shades of blue, white, and yellow on mine. The knife is uncompromisingly full tang and looks like it's better for a CQC weapon. But it's a little large for average-sized guys though. Overall, great design, nice knife. Thanks, Bud K!

The perfect balance
The first thing I noticed with this knife was its perfect balance in the hand. The handle is beautiful. Fit and finish outstanding. The sheath is sturdy and of good quality, nice embossed with a good fit. I find it hard to believe I paid less than 13.00 for it. This knife could retail for at least twice that if not more.

Great Knife
This is a great knife to add to my collection. Very shape out of the box. Nice weight and balance. No problems with the sheath. I'm going a couple more for gifts for the hunters in my family.

Great Value
I originally bought this knife for myself. It was much nicer than I expected it to be for the price. Beautiful handle, extremely sharp blade, fantastic look and feel. I gave it as a gift to my friend who actually collects knives. He was elated. Awesome Knife!

Good looking knife
Beautiful looking knife. It has some good weight to it, a small blemish toward the point of the blade. I think it will be a good knife as a gift. I will buy another. Perhaps the next one will be better.

"Nice Knife, but has some issues"
Thick and heavy full tang blade, reasonably sharp. Nice looking and sturdy blue pakkawood handle. Unfortunately The metal where the blade tang is attached to the handle is uneven and leaves sharp edges. The sheath looks nice, but doesn't look like it will hold up under use. All fixable problems so 4 stars. Knife itself would rate 5 stars without the sharp edges along the handle.

A very fine knife
This is the younger sister to the TW13, and like its brother is a heavy well balanced knife with a sharp blade and a good look and feel. It uses Pakistan Surgical Stainless but unlike other Pakistan disappointments, this knife has an excellent edge. It too has a hole for a lanyard which makes it a useful camp knife and small enough to not be cumbersome. For under $15 this knife is a bargain and worth twice that. If I had to choose I would say the TW13 is worth the extra $5 but no one has to apologize for owning this knife.

average knife
This knife is a get what you pay for knife. It is big and bulky which makes it too heavy compared to other knives this size. I have used it for chopping soft materials with good results but I'm not sure how much it will take. Overall I would still say it's a good buy just don't expect it to be your SHTF knife.

blue pakka
not too bad of a knife. I just think the handle is cheaply made, but all in all a great knife for how little it cost me... also the sheath was better than expected thanks BudK for another addition to my small, but getting there knife collection...
Anonymous Jan 16, 2016 (2 out of 5)
You get what you pay for.
The blue handle timber rattler Pakistan skinner. I love this knifes style and shape. All in all it could be a great knife with just a little fine tuning. I gave two stars because the blade is chipped in four spots, the handle has several gouges in the wood, some wood is even missing on the underside, and the sheath isn't sturdy enough to use for much more than display. Fix these issues and you have yourself a $50 knife, but I paid $9 and got what I paid for.
Response: We apologize the knife came damaged, we have pulled some from the current stock and they all look fine. You are more than welcome to send it back for a refund or exchange, call customer service at 866-246-7164 and we can get that taken care of for you.

scratched blade
I loved this knife, still loved it when i got it, then as i had it in hand WITH A TOWEL, put it in the sheath, then found it as it goes into the sheath it SCRATCHES the blade deeply. Then when you PULL IT OUT, it does it AGAIN.
