Product Description
The Shinwa Imperial Dragon Katana is the perfect embodiment of mythical elegance and formidable craftsmanship, built for serious collectors and sword enthusiasts. Hand-forged with painstaking attention to detail, this full-tang katana features a 28 3/4” Damascus steel blade, boasting over 2,000 layers that create a stunning array of waves, swirls, and ripples. This timeless technique, honed over centuries by seasoned swordsmiths, results in unparalleled strength and beauty. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine white ray skin and offset with black braided ito, adorned with intricate brass menuki and secured by traditional wooden mekugi, reflecting the essence of Japanese artistry.
The katana’s aesthetic appeal continues with a custom cast metal tsuba and a classic brass habaki that add rustic charm. The saya, hand-lacquered with a breathtaking mother of pearl dragon inlay, glimmers in a spectrum of colors and is further detailed with sun and cloud motifs reminiscent of traditional Japanese art. With its 40” overall length, the Imperial Dragon Katana brings the awe-inspiring grace and ferocity of the mythical dragon to life, offering an experience as unique as the blade itself.
Now for anyone new to buying swords. Do your research into what you’re buying. I don’t mean just reading the comments. Do research in the metals like high carbon steel and Damascus steel. Depending on what you’re using your sword for. Depends on what kind of metal and sword to get. Overall this sward is amazing; It wasn’t super sharp but after sharpening it with wet stones it was amazing, The weight is really nice, The blade is beautiful, it’s not super heavy, and doesn’t warp. This is an amazing sword to practice cutting with. For anyone who is buying a sword for a good price, get this one. NOW the only problem I have with it was it was really hard to get it apart to sharpen and clean it. Overall it’s amazing for anyone who is wanting to get into learning how to wield a katana. PLEASE do research on how to clean and sharpen the blade. Also I recommend not cutting wood with this. You can make some homemade tatami mats for angle cutting. You can also just swing it and pay attention to the blade when you do. Find the right standing stance. Angle the blade in the direction of your swing. Use your wrists, elbows, shoulders, and hips when swinging. Try not to hit the ground. Be carful, have fun and please do a lot of research on how to take care of it and how to use it as far as practicing cuts.

Fantastic
Compared to the Honshu Boshin Katana, this beauty is far superior. Sure, the blade itself is a bit shorter but the handle is also a bit longer than the Honshu. it's also much lighter. looks amazing too. nothing on it wiggles even slightly, which bugged the hell out of me with the Honshu. don't know how it cuts anything and I don't intend to find out.

I recommend this sword for sword buyer
Once I get past the fact that i paid for and bought the sword 2 days before it went on a 50% off sale, its was pretty good. It isn't very sharp and doesn't cut well, but the blade is of a very high quality and will last forever if taken care of. Before I got it sharpened, I took it to a battle test where we go full speed sparring competition style. It withheld zero damage during battle and only a few minor scratches. This Damascus Steel blade, once sharpened able to cut through bamboo stalks, real Tatami mats, and even all the way through a cow thigh. I recommend this sword to anybody that's getting started as the blade will last a long time and once you are ready, you can get it sharpened.

Beautiful Sword
Isnt a black blade like it shows but it is stunning none the less. Sharp and gorgeous to look at. The pattern on the blade is nice to look and the blade is well balanced and built. Standard shipping took 6 days to get it less than the 7-10 quoted. A good blade with some good craftsmanship. Thank you guys for a great product.
