So in my youth I use to be a Magician, Now much older and a father of 4 I find myslef looking for new activities to connect with my children. One year as a gift a friend bought me this set to see if I had any Magic'esk skills in my old age..after fooling around with the kit for about 15 min. my 8yr old son walks over and asks if he can try to open a lock..long story short kid opened the lock in under 5 min. now he's under 1 min., it was and continues to be a great gift and activity to get the dexterity moving and spend.

Great tool. First ever shot I unlocked my house (schlage) in about 35 seconds. Second time took me 5 minutes. It's about feel and technique. I have unlocked BEST deadbolt 7 pin from store front when our reception desk was delivered and owner wasn't there with key to unlock side door (only way it would fit and had permission) As for them being flimsy, the tensioner is for tension only. You will bend if you don't know what you are doing. I am a commercial finish carpenter who does a lot of door hardware and will stock up when it goes on sale (bogo).

Great product and great price. If you know the basic concept of picking, this product is all you need.

Very nice set for the price. Easily kept in wallet with all needed to open most locks.

Had my eye on this little set after some reading about lock picking as a Prepper skill. Jumped on it when it went on sale as a start for bigger and better things- like EZ decoder sticks and cracking Master lock combos! All in good fun, of course.

If you want something that's easy to carry with you all the time and works, these are well worth the money. I when down to the lake with my father-in-law and a friend to do some work at my in-laws house. About half way there my father in-law realized he left the key at home. It was too far to go back so he resigned himself to the fact that he would just use a crowbar on the door and pry it open. They were both surprised when I pulled this little kit out of my wallet and had the door open in about 20 seconds. I had just received this in the mail that day. It's already paid for itself. I have other pick sets, but this one you can carry in you wallet 24/7 and that makes all the difference. The best pick set in the world will do you no good if you don't have it when you need it.

This is a nice little beginners set. Don't bother with the manual. Just go to YouTube and see how it's done. I got my deadbolt open in a few minutes. Guys on the Internet can do it in a few seconds because they use thicker metal sets. I'm going to get one of the better sets they have here.

This is the firat set iv pick iv ever owned and since i have purchased 2 more of the same set as well as various other kits from other places. And i must say that for many lock i find myself resorting back to my redit card picks, it seems like their the only ones made to pick a real lock white most of the others are by far to large

i was able to pick several locks around my house using only the L rake and the torsion wrench. they are a bit skinny and hard to handle if you have larger hands but the up side is you can keep this set in your wallet. if you get locked out of your car or you just want to show off to your friends its a cool little set to carry. you never know when you might need it ;)

I got this along with the "Secure Pro X5 Eleven Piece lock pick set" I was satisfied with it. But I dropped it outside one day and now I only have the rake pick, and one other, so I combined the sets together to use the tension tools and smaller size picks and the rake pick together. I was not disappointed. Someone in an apartment complex where my dad works had moved out and left a locked filing cabinet. My dad called me over to get it open and after about 5 minutes it popped. There was a 100$ watch in there. I have picked numerous doors and just general locks for fun and for people that have locked themselves out. Nice job BudK

great product, messed around with homemade picks on locks, this set is convenient, althouth small it does the job, had me picking my door locks with a little practice, ordered another set to have a spare,it's fun to pick and surprise friend's how easy it is to do. thank's again.

i had expected them to be a bit on the flimsy side. but, these honestly are not that bad. the lightest bit of pressure on the torsion bar is all you need, half the time i press so lightly i don't even notice when it unlocks and it usually takes me around ten seconds on most master lock padlocks. if you have problems with bending these picks try using a softer touch. over all, this pick set was way worth the ten dollars and i would highly recommend it as a great starter set whether your just a curious buyer or someone with serious professional intent!

I got my picks in today and skimmed through the booklet. Within minutes I unlocked my front door. The picks are thin like some people have said but thats how they fit in a credit card style carrier. They seem plenty strong enough to use for a long time. Next I have to try my auto jigglers.

Work very well for a cheaper starter set. Will defiantly get the job done. Had to help a locked out neighbor, I got her in her home in less then a minute.

The booklet is mostly useless historical info. Lock picking is a skill set that takes time to learn and practice to keep up. The picks are ok steel with some sharp spots that came right off with a fine file. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and would buy again.

Works great on cheap locks, it can be hard to pick them up if you drop them. they also fit in my wallet really well, after a while you don't even notice that they are in there.

These are by far some of the best tools I've owned. I carry them in my wallet at all times (the case is about the thickness of 2-3 credit cards). While the tools are quite thin, they are also quite strong. I have had my set for several months now. The tools have opened dozens of locks and have held up fine, no bends or breaks. *note* If you break a set of picks, you're doing it wrong. :) I've even opened high dollar padlocks at work (with permission) that feature pick resistant pins (spools I suspect) and pick resistant key-ways, both of which made it difficult. I got them opened in roughly 15 minutes my first try, maybe 5-6 minutes my 2nd try. My boss was shocked that I was able to open a near $200 padlock with a $10 set of tools. I've also been able to help out several friends who locked themselves out of their homes. I'm so pleased with them that I ordered another 2 sets with BK's buy 1 get 1 free special. Like many have said, the booklet that comes with them is fire-fuel. If you're a beginner, get yourself the book Practical Lock Picking by Deviant Ollam, great information for people well in the trade as well. Why are you still reading this? Buy these!

I was given this as a gift from my girlfriend because I had been talking about buying a fourty dollar professional pick set to get aquainted with. With no prior experience, aside from reading online, I have become very proficient in picking the tumbler door in my computer room. That door is the entrance to my gun room, which is disheartening, but the second lock is pretty hard to pick. The manual was no help at all. The only thing in there is a diagram of what a tumbler lock is. Yay. Pretty useless, but it looks neat, I'll give it that. This is a very nice tool set to have stowed away in your wallet for many situations that can arise. By having it on me at all times, I can practice picking whenever I want to. I still have yet to pick a wafer lock open, but give it time. If you're a beginer, I highly approve of you buying this set first to get used to what picking is like. If you've found your new favorite hobby, consider buying a plastic practice tumbler lock so you can get a better idea of what you're doing. Then consider buying a more pricey and impressive lock pick set. All in all, I'm very impressed with the quality of this set. I'm also disturbed that the door inside my house can be picked with a ten dollar tool set and no experience whatsoever. Huh.

For the price you pay i would say this is a great purchase. I bought the kit and at first glance i thought it wouldn't work but i tested it out on one of the doors and it works great. The picks are surprisingly durable and the whole kit fits right in a sleeve of your wallet. Long story short awesome buy.

its as it says credit card sized mabey two cards thick but the tools are much sturdier than they are thin lol and the guide is very informative on history, theory and use of the equipment i cant wait to increase my lockpick skill from amateur using bobbypins and paper clips to journeyman using the tools of the trade lol

Very good set for beginners. Extremely difficult to pick locks with security pins, and damn near impossible for locks with double sided tumblers (both of which are used in most locks on houses, businesses, etc.). This set can open smaller things, such as small safe locks, cabinet locks, and big padlocks. Used it to teach my girlfriend the basics. If you're SOL and locked out of somewhere, you're probably going to need a better set, but, like I said, it's good for learning basics.

great item the metal is thin and bends very easily but if you are careful with them they can open most pad locks with a little practice as for door locks any one who says these do that i would question i have had mine for over a year and have never been able to open a single house lock lots of pad locks laying around the house but no door locks tried to watch some on youtube but was sadden to see some where faked you seen the door unlocked by the set but after watching closer they unlocked it from the inside again this is a great set but not for house locks now there are some on here that work for that i know i have them but this is not one of them over a year and no luck with this set about 2 weeks using the 13 buck set and i opened my first door lock but it is better suited for that than these are but for pad locks i highly recommend these

These lock picks are more solid than I thought they would be considering their price. I love the neat little case they come in. I have not really tried to seriously unlock a door yet but played around with the deadbolt on my office door and could feel the pins in it moving. I do wish that it came with better instructions. The instructions are the only thing that keep it from a 5 star rating.

Obviously wont match up to a professional set, but it can pick pretty simple or weak locks. Tension wrench will bend eventually.
Aug 28, 2014
(4 out of 5)
First set bought and so far works well on pad locks and other basic locks. I have not got a door knob unlocked yet. Be careful with tension wrench can bend if applying to much pressure. Book is very limited help. The casing holds the tools loosely but can be fixed with tape.

Not so bad, not obviously not a professional lock pick set. I've picked basic locks with it, but you have to be careful because the picks themselves are very thin and can break easily.

This product was perfect for me as a beginner. Hopefully I get better with practice. With these at such a cheap price, there's no need to freak out if one gets a little crooked.

Its a great first set for a beginner, and with the low cost its not a big deal if you break or bend one. I didn't give it a 5 because the book is pretty useless but over all its still a good buy.

All I can say about this set is... WOW! Seriously, for less than 10 bucks you get a REAL pick set. Not one of those crappy paper thin wannabe sets. Within the first ten minutes of inspecting this set, I opened a lock with ease. This is a basic set so if there is a complex lock you need to open, this set will not be enough. As for a practice set this is invaluable! if you can use this set to open a lock then when you get the locksmith grade sets you will be a lock-star!

I bought this set and have used it quite a bit. The trick is to not be disappointed with how long it takes to pick a lock. This set will get the job done, but it takes some practice to learn to use the picks. So far, I have used these to pick padlocks and door locks on houses. With a little patience, the set works fine! The only think that I feel is a little lacking is the thickness of the tension tool. You will probably over-do the pressure on it in the beginning and end up bending it if you are not careful. Some locks are stiff too and that makes it hard on the tension tool. Occasionally a little lubricant can help with that, but it would be nice if the tension tool was a little better quality. Overall, I would recommend this set to anyone who wants to learn to pick--on the condition you practice a lot. This set can save you a lot of money on locksmiths and broken windows, but only if you know how to use it!

I really liked this lock pick set. It works wonders when I get locked out of somewhere or if I just want to have a go at a new lock. It's simple and elegant. I did not like to booklet to much though. There was no real demonstration or diagram of how to really pick a lock. More just information about locks. Otherwise it's a very good choice for a beginner lock picker.

I was amazed at how simple picking locks really is. As soon as I got these in the mail I had my front door locked and started work. I had both the knob and deadbolt open in minutes. They are small and my hands cramp bad so I had an issue with using them for any amount of time but after some practice it only takes a minute or two to open most locks. Great product Bud K.

Got the wild idea one day that I wanted to learn to pick locks. thought it would be a fun and useful skill. When I saw this set I decided it was perfect. I love the idea that I will always have these picks with me wherever I go. Price is great. The book was pretty much useless but I quickly learned everything I needed to know about lockpicking on Youtube. Only complaint is after extended use, the small handle begins to cramp your hands and cut into them. But that is the sacrifice you make to have it fit in your wallet. Looking around now for a good home set with comfy grips but I will always carry this set with me in case friends or family gets locked out.

This set is pretty good... As a beginner to lock picking I found it very easy to pick up, starting with the rake methods and then working my way up to the more delicate single pin methods... It helps if you watch a couple videos on how to do it... Only problem is that my torsion wrench bent a little bit after a while... Still good for a beginning set...

This set is amazing! It is about the same size as a credit card (thickness is about two credit cards thick), and it fits in my wallet very well. I've opened a few locks with these so they are very good. very good metal, at first I thought they would be to flimsy to actually open anything but they work like a charm, even on deadbolts. best lockpick I've bought.

While it is discrete, the metal is quite flimsy and does not provide an easy unlock. When i was useing it I felt like every single time I put pressure on it, it was going to break. Good for the price. Could be user error.

the set is really good...the picks are really thin but they wont bend easily...the only problem was the book, it had good knowledge on lock picks and the history behind it but it didn't really tell how to pick locks

Good set for the price. A little flimsy, and I had to file off some jagged burrs. They work, used a couple of times and they have been in my wallet ever since.
Apr 24, 2013
(3 out of 5)
This is an ok set. As one review said, they are thin and do bend easy. They are small and hard to handle too. I was able to pick a brand new Master lock in seconds using the Raking method as this is the only method described in the booklet. The booklet itself was useless, other than explaining different locks, it does not explain how to use each pic or what pic to use for different locks. I will be looking into spending a bit more money on a better set and save this set for emergencies.
Apr 02, 2013
(3 out of 5)
Been using mine for practice. I have always picked locks with a paper clip, this is just a bit easier. My biggest problem with this set is its hard to grip onto, and I do not have large hands (medium mechanixwear gloves lol). However it does fit in the wallet, and DOES work. I recommend at least owning a set for cases where you lock your keys in your car. (I only seem to do it outside my home, this way I can get in my house and grab the extra car key) I am going to buy another set, but as I said, it needs to be a bit thicker and some nice grooves in the metal wouldn't hurt for extra grip. It's just too easy to bend them.
Feb 28, 2013
(3 out of 5)
This product will work for people that know how to use a pickset allready. For those people it is a good back up kit. The steel is cheap and lacks the spring of a good set. As a backup it is fine as a first set I wouldn't recommend it.
Feb 12, 2012
(3 out of 5)
The pick set is OK, but I like to rake to get locks open and it gives my fingers blisters because the picks are very small. Other than that it is a great pick set.
Aug 30, 2011
(3 out of 5)
First off, I was extremely surprised with the sturdiness of these picks. I expected them to be very weak, but they hold up well.
The size of the case is actually the same as a credit card, but just slightly thicker.
The book explains just enough to get a beginner started.
The case is well made, however, if pressure is put on the top of the case it will pop open.
The picks themselves were slightly shorter than I had expected, I find it a little difficult to "feel" the pins with them, and they aren't too comfortable when picking pin-tumbler locks using them, however, I suppose I should have epected that when reading that the set fits in a case around the size of a credit card.
For $10, it's a decent pick set. Personally, I liked the SouthOrd jack-knife set a lot more. (I'd bet that's just because I'm more used to it than I am these new picks.)
All in all, for $10, it's not bad.
I'm still surprised of these little picks' strength.
May 18, 2011

the picks themselves are alot sturdier than i thought they would be...the case however is the opposite...if it bends inwards it will open...all in all....you get what you pay for
Aug 22, 2013
(2 out of 5)
first off the booklet was good but provided more history about locks then how you actually pick locks. the picks are extremely flimsy and i cant pick a lock without them bending like heck. get the better set for 2 more dollars. i guess this is what you would get for your price
