Sometimes you get a box that is a dud, but for the most part the boxes are awesome.

I have been ordering from BUDK for over 6 years now.. And been happy I have gotten the 40 dollar box it was decent I gotten the 80 dollar box was not that impressed So decided to go with the 20 dollar box And I'm pretty impressed the knife alone is worth it... Nice job this time BUDK can't wait till next month

The box always seems to have a decent blade. It also has a variety of things for survival I am planning to test out in the near future. I always look forward to seeing what it contains every month!

I gave this to my son for Christmas and he loves to get his box every month. He spreads it out and takes a picture for me. It is well worth it for the money. He has gotten a knife every month, and they aren’t cheap tiny things. So glad I chose this for him.

So far I have received 2 boxes. Overall I am pleased with most of the items I have received. This is a good economical subscription for those that can’t really afford high end name brand products but want useful items. I am looking forward for my March box to see what goodies I get.

It is very interesting to find out what is in the box. It is good quality. Well worth 20 bucks.

I love getting this every month. Some things aren't the best but most of the items you can use for bugging out or camp supplies it's like Christmas every month you never know what's in side and I haven't got any repeat items well worth the $$$ spent

Each box has been great. Obviously, depending what you are looking for, some are better than others. But, each one has been well worth it and I so look forward to it each month. If I can afford it I will be on for many more months!

The things that come in the box have been eye catching to many of my friends

Well worth the cost. Every month has at least a couple items I really like, and every now and then something great shows up, like a hand crossbow or solar charger. Of course, there are a few duds, like a bullet shape ice cube tray, but they are few and far between. My only complaint is getting a folding knife every single month. I've got a different knife for every month of the year.

I absolutely love this. Its random in what you get but a lot of times its things you wouldn't think of. I look forward to this every month.

First off I'm not big on buying mystery boxes. In my experience they are usually crap the site can't sell. This box was purchased for me by my wife and I was surprised. The box came with two really good knives, a sweet cap, a quality monocular, a really bright flashlight, and a useless little multi tool. I would recommend this box to anyone and I'm looking forward to the next month's box.

I feel that it's worth every penny. Quality products. My fiancee looks forward to receiving them every month. I'm thinking about upgrading!

I am satisfied to the point that I order 2 boxes every month. Oct, Nov, and Dec boxes were definitely worth every penny. I also love the child on christmas morning feeling when I see the SHTF taped boxes. Keep em coming!

Sure, every crate has bad ass stuff in it. Usually 2 or 3 knives and a bag of some kind. Mostly high quality stuff!

The was filled with very fine items.

For a low 20 dollars a month, you get very cool, very useful items. Every box has something new in it every time. No disappointments. Best 20 dollars you will ever spend.

I got my son and my daughter each a subscription for Christmas. Now, every month, it's the gift keeps on giving! This past month was probably the best box ever. The pistol cross bow and watch were a big hit!

the quality of the products were better than I expected. It was like Christmas morning.

I have enjoyed the boxes so far. There is a lot of useful equipment in the box. How about some lighting. Flashlights, emergency lights, lanterns, etc. I have not been getting the boxes for very long but how about more first aid supplies, also. I will continue getting the boxes every month.

I just picked up my stuff from the Post Office today, after waiting a few days fighting a flu. Let me tell you, this "Awesome Stuff" that I just added to my Survival kit is without a Shadow of a Doubt, Truly "Awesome Stuff." It gives me a taste of possible items that I could need and use in any last ditch or normal situation and the pocket knife was a little more than what I expected, but that's Great!!! All the stuff is good and has been good so far since I joined this club, I am not one bit disappointed!!!

I tried the basic Battle Box subscription for 3 months and i have to say hands down that BUDK's basic box is the better value. You get more of a variety and you get more for your money. I just canceled my battle box subscription and decided to upgrade to the SHTF Pro box from BUDK.

OK first off I really enjoy getting this every month. What can I say it makes me happy. I do question how many pocket knives one person needs but the make great gifts. I have been getting it for 6 months and I have been able to build up my b.o.b with some good stuff that I can't find local. Keep up the good work.

The mystery cache is awesome, l get so excited when I open my box it like Christmas. It like they read my mind, I put everything to use and what I don't need I test my kids and they win it as prize. They also get excited and learn as will.

I signed up for this 2 months ago (05/17). I have recived 2 boxes so far and I got to say Im more than impressed. Is this all top of the line gear? No, but its all good gear that has a purpose. I like how they go with a theme for the most part every month. I am impressed with how much gear they actually give you for just $20. I'm always looking for cool gear to add to my families bug out bags. They hit the nail on the head here. I will be a customer to this as long as they keep doing it. If your considering it, give it a shot. I see on my account that you can cancel it at any time, so why the hell not?

My guess from a business stand point is these are left over items or items they get in small quantities that are not worth listing so they came up with a way to sell them with out listing them. Great idea and value for the customer. 1st box was a wool blend blanket, car hammer, 12 pack of fire starters and a low end folding knife. More than worth the $20 I paid and the hammer is something I may not buy but will add to my vehicle. I may up grade put the $20 a month I wont miss and the fun of the surprise is nice. It is fun to not know what I am getting. It also let me have small gifts on hand, like the folder since I do not plan to us it, since I have a few but I can gift it to someone.

Got my first one today (4/7/2017 ) really good deal was very happy . Surprised by what I got was good stuff and way over what I paid . Can't wait to see next one . 100% satisfied .

I've been doing this for a few months now, and it's been tedious trying to track down info on everything in the boxes for opening/review videos on YouTube. This month is the first one I've recieved with an info card and breakdowns of the various levels. My openings videos are centered around getting gear on a shoestring budget, this month's box has a few awesome items and a couple of necessary items. Can't wait until next month.

The blanket alone was worth 20 bucks! Its fun to see what you get each month. This my 3rd box and haven't been disappointed yet. Sure you get some stuff you can't use but many of the things I'm getting are going into our bug out bag.

The value in this box was great. I have other higher priced boxes I get every other, this box is affordable,fun, and packed with useful gear!! My wife can't wait to eat the food. This is the second box I have received and I love it. Everything I have tested has been great, however, I was unable to test the knife because I somehow managed to drop it in a pond while I was fishing

February box was great. Knife with belt sheath and hatchet were great and super sharp right out of the box. Wise food pack was also a welcome surprise. The key-chain was just a bonus.

Recieved a hunting knife and sheath, a mini ax, a seed pack, a survival food 2 pack, glow stick, and a nice screwdriver keyring. Well worth the money.

I hoped it would be a fun little box with at least something useful. I was pleasantly surprised to get all useable stuff. Of course, the quality of the knife and mini axe in my first box are not the best but very useable and for the money actually fantastic. I will continue to subscribe as this seems the best deal going. Two thumbs up.

Shipping makes it 40 bucks but whatever I like it but knowing now that pro and elite is out I am sure the 19 dollar ones gonna be crap. Still like it though.

started in december got the slingshot not karambit and january box kinda dissapointing think will give 1 more month to be fair if not satasified I will cancel

January box was a joke. 50 ft paracord, fishing yo yo, an emergency food bar vac packed (it was punctured at some point before shipping, so it's no good now) and a $7 machete. Come on Budk, you let me down this month. Just when I was thinking of upgrading to $50 box. I hope you can keep me interested. I'll try one more month.

A new member and i just got my first box yesterday. It was more than i had expected. I can easily put to use, everything that came in the box.A great value for those on a tight budget.

Just received the December box and was pleased with the karambit that came with it, very nice quality. It also came with face wipe, which i don't know what I'll use them for, an emergency fishing kit, pretty neat, and something that seems like a poncho but I really don't know. Not the best but certainly worth the price

Not too impressed with novembers box. Items seem to be getting cheaper grade. And other items are starting to repeat themselves every couple of months. Ill see what decembers box holds but it may be my last

Well,received the December box.My first box,while I am not blown away or completely overjoyed.it is well worth the $20 to see what comes next month.There were a couple thingamajigs that may come in handy that I probably would not have purchased on my own.It's cool ,they slipped right into the bug out bag.I do think that the Slingshot was a cool item .Like I said,I am not blown away but I am not disappointed either.

Came to about $46, but I ordered other things and they all came together in one big box. I ordered a slingshot and a slingshot also came in the mystery box. Really didn't need two but double the fun. Can't wait for next months box, thanks Budk I've always been satisfied.

I'm a new sub to Budk 19.99 mystery box/bag, and I have to say I was impressed with the knife in the October (I ordered in later part of month) and sheath isn't so bad. The first aid cards were what I feel as more common sense than anything else. The first aid kit was not impressive, but the case is perfect to hold my 12 guage caliber adapters (12g to .22lr and 12g to 9mm). My wife stole the flashlight key chain out of my hands though, lol. I'm looking forward to the nest box already. Speaking of which, Budk, about when do you usually send them out each month?

Good not great but good. The edible plant guide and camp civilware from last month was pretty cool the seed packet was a tad disappointing for my first box bit itherwise satisfied the knife alone to me was worth it for thid months and the little how to medic cards were a real treat the band aids in the travel case were neat and i keep em on me for hey never know but otherwise that wasnt great the case is pretty nice tho you can put all kinds if things in there heck even spare glasses. That bandage case i definitely like

I started late (Sept) and was not impressed with the mystery loot as many were not. I'm glad i gave it another shot after Budk responded to our reviews that they were going to keep improving them. I really do love the fact they had a theme for this one. I think having a theme for each one would be ideal as it brings about the mystery about which aspect of survival you would get each month.

Received my box today, the gas mask, wire saw, 5 mode led headlamp, trauma shears, and compass. All handy gear to have. I'm happy Ordered at the end of august, I'm ready for September's box already.

It was a nice surprise to receive a 2 pack trauma shears, a czech m10m gas mask, a cheap trail blazer compass, a coghlans survival horn and a m48 survival saw. Hope the next one will be a usefull.

I used to do mystery bags like this when i was a kid from the good ol' Johnson Smith catalog...was always a mixed bag of some good stuff and some junk lol This first bag was a great deal , mine had an M48 Camp Hawk(which sells for more then this bundle!) a folding wax stove , a waterproof notebook and tactical multi-wrap... All in all definitely worth way more then what I paid and everything has a use I can put in others bags .

I was bit hesitant but I'm always a sucker for the mystery items. My first box did not disappoint. It came with 4 items, 3 of which I find useful. The retail value of the items is about $48 dollars, so I'm well pleased. Can't wait to see what next month's will have.

Well I was expecting the pictured package with the knife and 5-in-1 tool, but I guess that was last month's. I got this month's package with the axe. After canceling my lootcrate, I found myself searching for another subscription service. I liked batlbox, but their intro is more expensive or at least same price, but mostly contains junky trinkets. The best one is in the 100s. This is a great deal for the items received and a great way to try items I might not normally have picked up on my own.

Just received my second mystery package. The contents: M48 camp Hawk (UC3118), Black Legion multi-wrap (BV360), Trailblazer folding stove (CK118), and M48 waterproof notebook (BK2168). All items came to $47.95 less shipping. I missed out on one of the many free/reduced shipping deals so I paid $27 for the box, it was worth it considering the difference. The waterproof notebook, wrap and stove will be nice to throw into a bug out bag. The stove includes 8 fuel tablets, I haven't tried them but I'll probably just stash them away, I make my own fuel that burns hotter and longer than what you generally find in any camping store. The prize of course is the small axe, it's a scaled down version of the tomahawk. The head has a decent weight on it, I know they show it can be thrown easily but I see the handle breaking. I'll probably just put it into a bug out bag as well and use it as a small hatchet. Again these mystery packages are keeping my interest and I will be recommending it.

I just received my first monthly order of gear. The contents included the M48 tactical commando knife, bullet fire starter, M48 Ranger click counter and 5 in 1 multi-purpose tool. All together the contents came to $32.94 - the knife was originally $20 but priced dropped to $10 so it would've been over double in value for the entire box originally. It was packaged in a plain cardboard box, I was glad for that, keeps my privacy from my neighbors. I haven't used any of the items since I literally just got the box about 10 minutes ago but I've read what reviews were available. The knife alone was worth what I paid. The click counter is not something I will bother with now, I'm in Florida and I'm not leaving the 72 degree air conditioning to go practice with this. As for the other items, somewhat novelty but I'll get my use out of it. For now this is keeping my interest so I will continue to get the monthly package. Wouldn't mind seeing some slightly more useful but inexpensive items like a Lifestraw or other water purification products, I won't complain about more knives to play with either though. Thank you.

So we just got our 1st box today. Bought it as a gift for my husband. When I saw what was listed in the November box, i was a bit indifferent, but thought the contents for the December box looked awesome, and thought he'd really love it! I was looking forward to receiving it, because I'd purchased the box in December, and figured thats the box we'd get... the November box showed up....... So my rating is more so based on that disappointment, but

Great buy I highly suggest this I've been subscribed since November everything I got was great. There are some things I find useless but other than that its a bargain. I just wish they had a sheath in the January box to go with the machete because its just hard to store. Also the Febuary box was well worth the money with a knife and the mini hatchet.

Received about five crates now. Some great things, some crap. But I like getting the surprise every month. It's like Christmas. Just upgraded to the middle crate. I may upgrade again if in a couple months I'm still getting cool stuff. So far I've been pleased and enjoy my boxes. I agree with the others though, a sheath for my gigantic machete would have been better. Regardless, thanks budk.

Only the first month but useful gear. I do think a machete should have a sheath or at least a blade guard. Will see what next month brings passing too harsh a judgment.

Started in November, was pleased with the contents of the box but was even more pleased with Decembers box. 2 man survival tent, face wipes, emergency fishing kit and a nice large karambit. $19/mo is totally worth the items I've received so far and the monthly surprise is kinda cool too. I'm a happy customer so far!

I have been getting the SHTF subscription for a few months and I have to say it is a great idea at a very good price. However, I have been prepping for quite a few years and most of the items I've received are already in my personal inventory. If not the exact items, ones very similar. I've noticed in reading other reviews, that many people were unhappy with the September shipment. I, on the other hand, lIked most of the items. The barter seeds were especially welcomed. If I may make a suggestion, perhaps BudK could offer different levels of subscriptions. Such as novice, intermediate and expert. I am putting a hold on mine for now, but I will be checking out the reviews for the coming months. But, overall I think it is a great idea at a low price. Thanks BudK!

The knife was awesome. It seams well made, the sheath not so much. everything else was ok, the card are not really that helpful cause there basically common sense stuff. I would really like to see BudK do the box with the M48 camp axe and stove again that was awesome, and I missed out on it. Or the one with the foldable bolt cutters. Were's those kind of SHTF stuff? I know they cant give that kind of stuff away all the time but more useable make since items for the whole family if you were actually bugn out.(i.e. children and mom) All in all thank you BudK for offering this deal for only $20 a month, I really do appreciate it. For todays economy it really is a good deal.

This was my first box. I wasn't overly impressed with everything I received. I did like the knife. The little first aid kit is ok, The contents I will take out and leave inside my house. The carrier has more potential. The flashlight is alright. I didn't care to much for the learn and live cards. I am not discouraged though. I like the idea of it being a mystery box and not knowing what your going to get. Brings back childhood memories of Christmas. Sometimes you'll get something you want and sometimes you won't.

I Expect a little more maybe I liked the gas mask a few months back and the knife this month. but seeing the pictures of the first two months June and July i quess i expect the same maybe of every month. its worth it in some cases.

Paid $20 for what is worth $32 if you paid full price on all the items. Included an Edible wild plants guide which i was going to get later on anyway. A nice surprise A Barter seed pack worth $20 barter/trade. Whatever that means when all value cast doubts. A Timber Wolf camp tool; for what it is, it will werk in a pinch. The spork is not made well. A foldable trowel. Worth $20 for the plant guide and seed pack, the rest is a sad bonus. A little disappointed it didn't include a knife... hopefully next time. I will try it once more, if it results like this month's, I will no doubt discontinue.

These are a good item to get each month but this month I was missing the striker and fire starter that was listed to be included in the march package......

The box came with a machete cut THROUGH the box ??! It's all about survival IF your can make it past the unboxing.

this was lil better then last month,but still didnt wow me.knife was ok,the live n learn cards i liked.but the cheap carabiner bandaid kit and flash light disapointed.i will try one more month.

Paid $20 for the cache that is worth $32 if you paid full price on the items. A Barter seed pack, something I don't think I would ever order from budk, but a neat idea. If there is an apocalypse event or random urge to plant a garden with them I'll update on if they grow plants. A Timber Wolf spork and knife combo; wouldn't recommend this item to anyone. The knife is not a knife.. more like a small weak pry bar that is uncomfortable to use. The spork is not made well. A backpacking foldable shovel, cheaper than the one i already have but it is still a good item as it works well for what it's made for. Overall, worth 20 bucks just for the plant guide and seed pack. A little disappointed just because it didn't really include a knife of any sort... and I like knives.

Just received my first mystery package in the mail. The mystery items included an edible wild plant folding pocket guide, mini folding trowel, barter seed pack, and a camp tool. Price came out to 32 dollars.

Well I ordered my first box and just received it today I was very excited and well I opened the box and I received a karambit, fishing kit, face wipes, and survival poncho. The karambit is what I am disappointed with granted it's a $20 box I figured they would give you items you can rely on and well you can't rely on that knife. Biggest issue is that it's not a full tang which was surprising seeing they have at bottom a hole to put your pinky you can bend that handle in half and it will form right back really wish they would have had a real full tang. Seeing the knife has no practical use I don't think the box was worth the $20 but I will be trying one more month. The rest of the items are great, little fishing kit, poncho stay warm and dry or make a shelter, and face wipes well you can clean yourself would be good for camping, well I hope this review helps someone out I would say don't knock it till you try it.

Thought it might be worth it, but I could get these by themselves for $32. So all I saved was $5. There are other boxes out there for $20-50 with items double the price you pay for them. Will only use three out of the four items. Will be giving away the fourth. It seems to be getting worse by the month. Love the knife though! Best item since I subscribed.

Like the previous reviews I received the same items (seed pack, fold-able trowel, camp eating tool and edible plant guide). This is my third month of the subscription. First two months were much better. You cant hit a home-run every time. Maybe BudK will read these reviews and realize this month's box was kind of a bust.

First month first box. Well was excited till I opened it . But will wait on another to compare we will see. Great idea but products lacking my enthusiasm . Machete was good idea but I like to have a sheath so no accidentally cutting myself. So you read reviews great concept need better items.
