This military-style tanto knife is a great blade for self-defense and a great addition to your tactical gear. This knife is just great! Sharp enough to cut my hand right out the box. (My bad). It is gonna to land on the wall with the other great knifes i have pickup in past twenty years i have been collecting. It is definitely one of my favorites.

They come pretty sharp, but a bit of additional 600+ grit work does wonders. GREAT replacement for a heavy Bowie. I prefer the angled tip to a drop point for its extra strength. The thick blade is tough enough to practically stand on, width-wise. Great price for a good and usable knife.

This was a gift from my cousin. I don't know how long he had it, but I do know he's hard on his knifes. It had many scratches and a few nicks on the blade, but still easy to rehone the edge. I've had it a few years and it's held up very well. The blade holds a decent edge and won't bend no matter what I do. It's also easy to resharpen. The pummel screws off so if the handle breaks you can replace it.

This is a very good, solid, sturdy tando from BUDK. For the price, the knife is great and has held up against serious use. Highly recommend for someone looking for a cool and useful tanto.

For the price, this knife is far above flea market junk. It's a solid blade. With a garboj sheath. I'll say that right away. If it had a better sheath, it would get 5 stars automatically. I'm still giving 5 because the knife itself is a great toolbox knife for the value. I bought 2 and gave 1 to a friend. I wish that I had kept the second one, screw my generosity. There is no other $7 fixed blade that is like this. At first glance (not counting the sheath), it could pass for a .... uhm... Chilly Steel. For the money? Who cares? It beats anything within the price range, and it takes a decent edge.

If you are even thinking about it, buy one. Then when you get it, check it out, use it, then come back and buy more. I now have 7. Under $10, even better on sale, and they make just a great beater knife if nothing else. Tough, Tough, Tough. I'm about to sacrifice one with a tear in my eye to try some modifications on it. A 7 5/8 inch long blade has a lot of possibilities. Better get some before prices rise or they quit making them!!! Thanks as always BudK!

I’ve been wanting this knife for a long time! Now that I have it, I’m totally happy with it. After you put a good edge on it, it’s completely awesome!

I got these (2) on closeout for about $10 each, if you include shipping and everything. They are a long, slightly back curved 7.5" (19 cm) blade with a Tanto style point. The handle is a rubber-like material that feels like rubber checkering. The handle must be attached under the grips because I can't see rivets or screws and the handle pommel is shiny but not chromed. You can see the handle was polished (Stainless?) and has a few waviness in it with a few small pits but they DO NOT lokk like rust was removed. Most likely casting flaws. Blade is separate and looks like different metal finish. Looks "brushed" on a buffer, not shiny at all. The sheath with the 'black leather" is lined with what looks like felt (Huh?) which I'm sure will be great at holding moisture for maximum rusting. It's so flimsy though if hang it from a belt I'm almost positive it will split apart so you won't feel bad tossing it in the trash. Other wise for a $11(shipped) knife it looks good. I'm not sure carrying it around if you find some sort of generic sheath to fit it would go over too well with the local law enforcement . With a seven and a half inch blade (19 CM) it is a bit intimidating to the average person on the street. I think the cheap sheath will hold up if you sore it in a tool box like I intend too. I keep it coated with 500 cST silicone oil ($20 on Amazon) which will soak into the "felt" lining on the sheath and stop it from rusting. Just remember industrial silicone oil doesn't break down without soap (Dawn dish washing is best) and water and is toxic to fish AND kills the bacteria in your septic tank if it gets built up. It lasts forever and laughs at water. All you need is to touch your finger to it and rub it around. if you are using more than 2 tiny drops at a time you are using to much!! It will protect most any non-rusted metal from corrosion (Except sea water, that rots everything eventually) and your knife(s), or tool(s), or sword(s) will look good as new. especially in storage! Just wipe the metal or synthetic rubber off or use like Windex to clean it off non-metal or a rag with metal to remove the oil because it is super slick!!

Bought it for free shipping, figured I'd use it on the grill, works great and so much studier than any BBQ fork lol. It's visually impressive and the sheath seems to be holding up, that looks pretty good too

Purchasing this knife on a whim, I found it to be an excellent deterrent via visual impact, showing it to a friend of mine and some pestilent local "Crack head " walked up and upon seeing my new tanto almost defecated his pants, I have not seen him near my house and property since that afternoon

I've had mine for about a 2 weeks now and everything is nice and it's good quality. I have needed to sharpen the edge some more, but that's a given because I like my edge sharper than a scalpel and some blades come only semi sharp. Love to customize my blades sharpness.

Sheath is trash. I took the handle apart to fill the voids in it with epoxy. Secured end cap the same way. I have been using it as a throwing knife now. Over 100 throws and still solid. It is an incredible bargain at $7.

I bought one of these for a gift. I'm wishing now that I had ordered several; everyone wanted it. It is very nice. "Wow!" was the expression from anyone who saw it. Great buy and great knife. Don't just buy one, get several.

Kemosabe, get my horse! This Tanto is full tang, thick and ready for "business"! Glad I got one when I did! Simple, elegant, and ready to perform! An addition to your collection that you'll be glad to have. If you like the looks, are thinking you want one, buy it; you won't be disappointed. I can recommend this without hesitation.

My gosh people, it's a huge full tang knife with sheath for under $10. AUS-6 is the Japanese version 440A stainless. A good all around metal. If you use it, you'll need to sharpen it. Personally, I'd rather have a work knife that I can quickly and easily sharpen with about anything handy than a knife with a harder steel that you can't sharpen in the field unless you bring along your $100+ sharpening system. A good many CRKT, Kershaw and Sog knives were made with AUS-6. And some SOG and Spyderco still are. ( Though AUS-8 is now more popular) So you get a really good usable knife that will take an edge at a price that won't make you cry when it breaks because you did something a knife isn't made to do. Go BUDK! I'm not going to harp on the sheath because everyone else already has. Again, UNDER $10, Big Knife and Sheath. Consider it a free sheath. That's right, a really good knife for under$10 with an absolutely free sheath. You'd jump on it beat up and second hand at a yard sale or gun show. So if you are interested in a knife of this type, hope it comes back in stock (Out of Stock at this writing) and buy it. I bought 4 and am nothing but Happy with the purchase.

Sheath is nothing to brag about, but probably the best quality of a full tang knife I have seen. Amazing!

I love this Knife! It is thick and well built. I bought one ...then purchased 4 more ... yes ... 4 more as gifts. Yes it is true that the sheath is not great. But when others see the knife they are very impressed with it and don't say WOW nice knife but I think my fighting techniques will suffer because of the sheath. I DIDN'T BUY THE KNIFE FOR THE SHEATH. I can make a good tactical sheath. But the knife is definitely a keeper. BUY IT! You will not regret the purchase.

Simple. Beautiful. Solid. This is a sturdy full tang blade. A little session on the stone and this thing will be super sharp. I've been wanting this knife for a long time. Got mine for 5 bucks. Glad I waited. Thanks BudK!

I have used it to persuade unwelcome visitors to depart from my house (the sight is a motivator), peel pineapples and open coconuts, even pry open a locked door. The price is unbeatable, being that it could be sold for around Fifty Dollars. I can honestly say that we customers are committing legalized theft (a steal of a deal), for an excellent price, I got mine about Three years ago and never regretted it.

Anyone could nit pick you can find flaws in most anything but when you can buy a knife for the price as a pack of cigarettes that isnt a piece of junk you're in good shape...! I didnt expect much but was pleasantly surprised! Its a good looking knife, showed up sharp, nice grip good fit and finish for $7!! Who cares if the sheath is crap waaaah! for that price any sheath is a bonus...! Besides you could use it for patterns to make a nice leather sheath which the knife is worth doing it for. Dont hesitate, if youre thinking about it just buy it...

This knife is so simple yet so great. Sharpen if you must and don't complain to BudK, you're not spending $100 on most of these knives. The sheath does it's job for me, but pretty thin "leather". I attached this beautiful knife to my wife's van sun visor for a little extra protection if needed. Would like to have nicer grips but for this price I have no right to complain. I really do love and recommend this knife.

this knife is great; if you want to improve it, it's so easy, wrap the handle with high grade electrical tape, spray the sheath lightly with liquid rubber in a spray can, now you have a excellent knife that will last you decades.!!! and for ten bucks,or even better get two on a BOGO DEAL, you will be amazed of the feel and balance and edge you have and can improve on,, I HAVE THREE[3]..!! VERY HAPPY..!! Sincerely, The Italian Redneck

THe knife is very solidly made and mine came with a decent edge out of the box. A few passes over my 12H0grit stone gave it a hair-popping edge. The handle is very comfortable in the hand and the gripis long enough to accommodate my largish hands nicely. My only complaint is with the sheath being a little flimsy but for $10 who can complain? That's easily remedied by using one of the replacement sheaths that I've picked up in a past order. Over all a great buy!

A fantastic knife and very well made. It's ready to use right out of the box! The quality is apparent as soon as you pick the knife up!! My only complaint was the smell, must be the glues used to afix the wrapping around the hilt. It was so, strong I couldn't sleep with it in the same room and I love my knives.

This is a great knife. Very sturdy and solid, you can feel it! A couple drawbacks for me though: 1. The stinky rubber grip handle that smells like a chinese rubber factory - you know that smell! And 2. For me, I wish the hand guard were a bit bigger. Otherwise, I still give it a 5 star.

This was ready to use right out of the box, and I think the sheath is made very well, but I always get the super glue out and put a little where I know I might have trouble later. I really like this knife, it is good steel as I sharpened it a little more than it was, and after a week of using it the edge is still there. I'm going to buy a few more and give them as Christmas gifts. Thanks BudK for another great buy.

Once i opened this knife i loved it it is a great buy. However I'm going to say this there were 2 things wrong one of which didn't happen until a couple days after i had this blade. The thing that i noticed once i opened it was that the blade was a little lose and shook slightly but it isn't by much. the second this that i happened is the part of the sheath popped (the part that connected to by belt of course) other that that all i can say is it was a little bit heavier that i thought but it was a great buy.

This knife gets five stars for the money, six if you buy two. The tanto point and lack of serrations make this an optimal knife for Unfortunately, the stainless hand guard on the two that I received is machined improperly, allowing for a a little play between the tang and the guard. I fixed this by removing the pommel, handle, and guard, and then wrapping the point where the blade meets the tang (i.e., just below where "BUDK" is inscribed) with a few layers of electrical tape. After reassembly, the play was eliminated, and I simply cut off the excess tape.

I have always wanted a Cold Steel master Tanto in San Mai 3, but as it turns out, I can't justify the cost for my occasional abuse. Saw these and got 2. They are pretty well made, and stay fairly sharp. one of them I modified by grinding off part of the hilt to make it a bit more like the Recon Tanto shape, as well as drilling and pinning it through the hole (already in the tang)with a cut down heavy duty roll pin. Pretty bad a** now. This thing does measure more like 7 inches on the blade (not 7 5/8), but is good and strong. Sheath sucks, but mine fits in a Kabar sheath since its the same blade length and narrower with the curved part, so it ends up being close in length and width in the sheath. Highly recommended! Also, a little buffing wheel action makes this blade nearly as pretty as a CS.Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. We have updated the review to reflect the appropriate materials.

WOW! You shouldn't waste your time reading the reviews! Just got this Tanto, and my expectations were blown away! SUPER heavy, sturdy and BAD A**.. I would reccomend getting at least 2.

Went camping & showed this off to my friends. Told them it would chop a log in half without breaking, they called me out on it so we all took turns hacking at a dried out log about 14" in diameter. 2 cases of beer & an hour later the log was hacked in 2 and the knife was still in 1 piece. The hand guard had been loosened up however but I don't know how else we could have abused this thing without straight out trying to break it. You can't beat this quality for the price.

UPS dropped this item to me today. I ordered 2 from the good reviews I had read here on Bud K. First thing I noticed out of the box was the well made and durable sheath it was in. After taking out the blade, which nicely heavy, yet balanced, I quickly marveled at it sharpness, and how nicely the grip felt. For the price, it really is a great Tanto. Thanks Bud K!!!

Every human should own one. It is a big, strong, sharp chunk of steel. A must for martial artists. At this price buy two. I am jealous the price went down since I got mine.

Umm....yea, this thing is friggin huge! Read the description folks, I bought this to use in my 7" S&W Tanto sheath but needless to say, it won't fit. Edge needed a touchup, and the sheath that came with it is nothing to bark at, it's faux leather and has velcro to secure the blade. But hey, you're pretty much getting a sword, and at this price, it can't be beat! Fast shipping as always, Thanks for this BudK!

I was looking for a set of twin daggers when I stumbled upon this tanto. Did you see that price!? I went ahead and bought two as a matching set and oh man, superior quality for the price. I've seen tantos similar in quality and in far worse condition for 40 dollars and up! The two I bought came nearly razor-sharp and ready for use, and the faux leather sheaths are just as lovely. If you're looking for a tanto with quality that far surpasses it's price, then look no further!

Amazing knife. I was asked if i wanted to buy it when i purchased my Big Bore Blowgun a while back, awesome knife. Came sharp but it sharpens easily as well, sturdy sheath, no complaints. Buy this knife; you won't be disappointed.

Been looking for this type of knife, and when it cam out I grabbed it. Cant beat the price for the quality of the blade and sheath. I already have a nice sheath for this so it didn't matter. Like I said cant beat the price.

Aside from sheath being garbage this a solid knife in fact if you like being stabby mc'stab stab this is the $7 stabber you want cause while it is a very effective "stabber" you gonna have to sharpen it. I heard butter knives were shaming it from the drawer.

The knife is good but the sheath is junk . Knife is heavy with nice blade a little stone work and you get a sharp knife . The sheath is thin as paper does not look like it would hold up to outdoor use . At the price worth buying just look for better sheath . Good knife would recommend .

As many other reviewers have previously stated the scabbard is super hokey but works until you can obtain something better to put the knife in. But all in all, this would be a great tackle box knife, or stored with the camping gear. For $6.99 if you used and abused this knife until it died I feel it would be a great bargain. This steel isn't as durable, hard, easily sharpenable/edge holding as some other steels but come on, for the price you can buy one of these to use/abuse and save your expensive SOG/Cold Steel/CRKT....etc knives for display or more tactical uses. In my opinion, Bud K has a hit with this knife for the price and functionality and if you don't expect champagne for beer prices you won't be disappointed.

Cool knife for the money. Sheath isn't worth a lot and is cheap, but for the money spent, I can build my own sheath. Yes, it was dull, but most of the fun for me is getting a inexpensive blade and seeing what I can make of it. If facing a zombie apocalypse, you might want to go spend $600.00 on a good blade, but I like collecting, not made of money and this knife is functional. Glad I bought it.

This is not the 1st knife I'm going to grab in an emergency. Not because it can't take a beating but because it's a really beautiful piece. As soon as I held it I was proud to have it in my collection. You will not find a better knife anywhere for $10. *Before I ordered this I read the reviews about the cheap sheath. They where not kidding. When I saw the sheath I literally laughed out load. I didn't buy it for the sheath so not a big deal to me but be warned.*

I have to say I am genuinely impressed with this knife. I bought it as a BOGO so I received 2 for $10. It seems to be solidly built, nothing is loose. Having said that, it isn't perfect which is to be expected for a Chinese knife that costs $10. The blade itself is a solid, thick chunk of steel. Pretty sharp right out of the box. It claims to be full tang, I haven't taken it apart so I'll take BudK's word for it. The handle isn't rubber, its injected molded plastic, but again feels solid, isn't loose and feels pretty good in the hand. The guard and the pommel also feel solid, not loose. Its not polished, just that cheap (and cheap looking) chrome plate often found on Chinese and Pakistani knives. Still it appears they did a competent job as there isn't any bubbling or flaking of the chrome plate as is often found on these type knives. Even so, I wouldn't strike anything with pommel as it would definitely damage the chrome plating. The sheath, as other reviewers have mentioned and should be expected, is crap. A thin plastic/vinyl affair crudely stitched together. A velcro strap secures the knife and the belt loop is just two slits cut into the backside. I don't plan on ever wearing this knife so the sheath is serviceable however, as just something to store the knife in while not in use. Considering the price and the place of origin, nothing I wrote should surprise anyone. Still, for $10, its a heck of a bargain (especially if you get it as a BOGO) and well worth the paltry sum they are asking for it. A great beater knife that you can throw in your car or truck and not worry too much if it gets damaged or broken.

i like this knife, looks good but the blade is very dull out of the box. knives iv ordered before at least had an edge wich is somewhat sharp to begin with . im going to have to go to the hardware store and get a rough sharpening stone for this one .see what kind of edge i can get on this blade sheath is flimsy but for $10.00 its worth it.

This is by far one of my favorite BUDK knives. There are some downsides though: ---It (mine at least) was pretty dull out of the box, and the angle that the edge is cut at makes it difficult to sharpen by hand. ---The sheath is a hunk of crap. But if you are just looking for a display item, this is for you. it looks magnificent and very classy. I took off the pommel and handle and replaced them with a solid rubber machete handle that i had lying around, and it looks really sick. A good buy, but be prepared to make modifications.

Sheath can be better, first day wearing it, the rivets keeping the top part together broke. If you can get a replacement sheath, I highly recommend getting it.

The knife is PERFECT. I was surprised at the weight. The sheath is terrible. Just like many other leather sheaths the stitching came undone right away and the strap is to large.

got this looking for a sturdy defense knife. It is okay, not great, but okay, esp. for price. Sheath is very flimsy. My gripe is the loose finger guard and hilt/nut at top of handle. I was able to snug it up, but it still comes loose. There are other knives I'd have chosen first having seen this (full-tang tactical or special forces tanto), but it's still a nice deal for price.

I bought this knife for two reasons. 1, I really dig the tanto style knives and 2, it was only $7. After receiving the knife, I was really disappointed with the sheath. It’s a thin cheaply made vinyl that probably wouldn’t hold on a belt through a days worth of work. The blade itself is nice and thick and comes fairly sharp out of the box but could use a good sharpening. Now the guard and pommel are chrome plated and look cheap. It takes away from the knife and even seems to bubble on some areas. The overmolded handle has a diamond type pattern that is slip resistant but is made of a hard plastic so it doesn’t really feel as great in the hand as other similar knives would. For the price though, you get a lot of knife that would be good for the tool box, tackle box or even for display. I’d buy a new sheath and sharpen it right away.

The Knife with a bit of sharpening is GREAT, very useful, The only issue you are going to have is with the Sheith - It is beyond a POS... It broke 30 min. into my walk around town, but the blade, and weight is great.

This is basically a cheaply made Chinese knife using a 420 (soft grade) stainless steel blade that extends into the plastic handle, which is screwed on with the butt cap and lanyard hole.

From the reviews I thought I had a steal, I even saw a review on youtube that mentioned he had taken it apart and it had a "full tang". After taking it apart myself I see that none of these people seem to understand why people make a big deal about the tang in the first place, because instead of having a single, stable piece of metal within the handle, it has a very poorly WELDED rat tail tang, rendering the allure of "full tang" virtually pointless, as it provides next to no physical strength or resistance to strain. Perhaps even worse is that they seemed to have cut out the hole drilled into the metal for hanging which would have easily served to place a mekugi, resulting in not only a more stable blade, but one more traditional. For the money I should have known better.

From a distance, it looks good. While you will not take in hand. Disgusting steel. A dull blade sharpening with burrs. The handle moves. I gave the mother this knife for loosening the earth in the pots with her flowers.

Received four of these and not one of them sharp. Used a chop action against palm of hand an a butter knife would do more damage. Tried to sharpen them and the blade missed the heat treatment process; Lay the blade past 45 degrees and the edge will roll.In the process of returning them.
